Attendance Policy

Any Summit High School student is expected to attend each and every class he/she is scheduled for and will complete flex-time for each class he/she fails to attend. The student will also attend mandatory Friday tutoring for any class that he/she receives a D or F in.

** Students who do not complete all their flex-time within the school week will put themselves at risk of failing their course and will receive no credit for the course.

** Students with more than three missed days per course will put themselves at risk of losing partial credit for their course.

** Students who fail two or more of their classes during a block due to attendance put themselves in jeopardy of losing their seat in the session they attend. For example a student can be moved to afternoon or night school if they do not attend regularly in the morning.

** Students who continuously miss classes can be cited for truancy and will be required to appear in court.

** Students who continuously miss classes will be referred to an administrator for disciplinary action.

** Students who earn a D or F in any of their classes will be required to report to school on Friday for tutoring. Students will be given a letter every Thursday that will show their current grades and attendance. All parents or guardians should ask their child for the letter on Thursday after school. Parents may also call the front office after 12 p.m. on Thursday to find out what time their child should report to school on Friday.

Flex-Time can be completed on Friday from 8 a.m. – 3:05 p.m. A student can flex up to 4 classes on Friday if they arrive to school at 8 a.m. Students can also complete flex-time during the school week if necessary. A student must stay after school or come in before their school day begins to complete flex during the school week. All flex-time during the school week must be pre-approved by Mr. Barraza.
